Freight forwarders evaluating air cargo management software usually need the same things: a reliable picture of active shipments, airline booking information that matches what is actually flying, milestone visibility, a way to catch problems before they become customer calls, and a path to recover when they do. Most of those signals already exist. They are just spread across systems.
What air freight operations software should do
A useful air freight operations layer does not start by replacing rating, accounting or ocean modules. It starts with the work an air export or air import desk actually performs: create the shipment, secure capacity, collect and lodge cargo, watch acceptance and uplift, then keep the consignee and shipper informed until delivery.
UpliftOS is built around that lifecycle. It is air freight management software for operations managers who need one place to see which files are on track, which are at risk, and which are already disrupted.
Manage active shipments
Each shipment carries the operational facts an operator needs: origin and destination airports, MAWB and HAWB, pieces and chargeable weight, customer, priority, booked flight, and health. The operations overview surfaces active shipments, departing today, at-risk files and overdue work so the desk can start from the queue rather than a blank search box.
This is shipment management in the operational sense — not a static job list. Status moves with the work: ready for booking, booked, collection pending, lodged, accepted, in transit, arrived, available, delivered, on hold or disrupted.
See every operational milestone
Air freight files accumulate events: cargo ready, booked, collected, lodged with the airline, accepted, departed, arrived, collected at destination, delivered. Operators still update many of those milestones by hand because the airline message and the TMS record do not stay in conversation.
UpliftOS keeps a shipment-level timeline so a branch manager can see what has occurred and what is still pending, including when the source was an operator, the system, an integration or the operations agent.
Manage airline booking information
Airline bookings are where air freight becomes real. Capacity is requested, confirmed, waitlisted, amended, rejected or rolled. UpliftOS records the booking against the shipment, including flight number, routing and status, and uses that record when a later disruption has to be assessed.
The product can search availability through a carrier adapter. Live Qantas Freight connectivity is available when credentials are configured; otherwise the demo uses a mock carrier so operators can still walk the booking path.
Detect problems before they escalate
Health and risk scoring watch cutoff proximity, missing documents, collection confirmation, lodgement state and disruption flags. The point is not a dashboard of vanity KPIs. It is to put "at risk" and "critical" files in front of the people who can still act.
Typical early warnings include a Dangerous Goods Declaration that has not been validated before lodge close, a collection that is still unconfirmed against a delivery SLA, or a connection that will not hold if the inbound flight delays.
Coordinate operators and tasks
Exception work creates tasks: rebook, chase a document, confirm collection, notify the customer. UpliftOS keeps those tasks in the same operational context as the shipment and the disruption, so the work does not disappear into a personal inbox.
Handle disruptions
When cargo is rolled, a flight is delayed or cancelled, or capacity is rejected, the file needs a structured response: which shipments are affected, what the ETA impact is, what recovery is available, who approves it, and what the customer is told. That workflow is covered in air freight disruption management.
Automate customer communication
Customer updates are still written from memory in many branches. UpliftOS drafts communication from shipment state after a recovery is approved. Sending remains an explicit operator action in the current product — the software prepares the message, it does not silently email the consignee.
Connect existing freight systems
Air freight software does not have to own every commercial record to be useful. UpliftOS is designed to ingest shipment data from CargoWise, a public shipments API and CSV / Excel imports. CargoWise can remain the system of record. UpliftOS adds monitoring, exceptions and AI-assisted workflow on top.
AI-powered operational workflows
AI for freight forwarding in UpliftOS is not a chatbot bolted onto a TMS. It reads operational messages, matches them to shipments, opens inbox work, recommends recovery and answers questions such as which files are at risk before close of play. Operators approve actions that change bookings or customer promises.
FAQ
Is UpliftOS a TMS?+
No. It is an operations layer for air freight. Your TMS can remain the commercial system of record while UpliftOS focuses on monitoring, exceptions, disruptions and operator workflow.
Can we try it on a simulated operation?+
Yes. The interactive demo walks a Pacific Air Logistics workspace, including the ULF-1048 Sydney to Los Angeles cargo-roll scenario.
Does it cover ocean or road?+
The current product is built for air freight operations. Road collection and lodgement exist as they support air export, not as a general transport TMS.
